Apurva Dixit Psychotherapy

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a session and where does it take place?
Each session is 60 minutes and is conducted over Google Meet. I recommend weekly sessions to have consistency and rhythm to our conversations. My practice is currently online, and a good internet connection is required to be in therapy.
How much do you charge for a session?
For residents of India, I charge INR 1800 for Individual Sessions.
For people based outside India, I charge INR 3000 for Individual Sessions.
I have a limited number of sliding scale slots based on need and availability. To request a sliding scale slot, please get in touch.
How many sessions will I require?
Each individual has a different process that caters to their needs and goals. I recommend a minimum of 12 sessions to each client. It is important that you are able to invest significant time in your therapy process. Fewer than 15 sessions is unlikely to bring about any lasting change. The aim is not to 'cure' any symptoms, but to understand and gently redirect in a collaborative manner. For many, therapy can last for months or even years.
Do you offer diagnoses and medication?
B.A (H) Applied Psychology from Gargi College, University of Delhi
M.Sc in Clinical Health Psychology with Distinction from University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom
Core Skills Training in Existential-Humanistic Psychotherapy from Existential-Humanistic Institute, California
Foundation Year Course and Intermediate Year Course from Institute of Group Analysis, UK and Hank Nunn Institute, Bangalore
What are your qualifications?
I practice a non-diagnostic approach to therapy, so I will be unable to offer you a diagnosis. However, if you require a consultation with a Clinical Psychologist or a Psychiatrist, I can help you find some resources. I try to explore lived experience as a wider and more intricate form of understanding ourselves, outside the labels of a diagnosis. If you have already received a diagnosis, I aim to understand what it means for you.
I do not prescribe medication, and if you feel the need to consult someone I can connect you to a wider network of mental health practitioners in different capacities.
Can I reach out to you in an emergency?
I am unable to provide support in a crisis or emergency. As an individual practitioner, this is out of scope for my practice.
If you are at risk, adequate resources are discussed in the beginning of therapy and a risk management plan is formed to ensure safety.
